Salesforce is the #1 AI CRM, helping companies connect with customers in a whole new way — uniting the data, apps, and agents that run the business. observed
Salesforce, Inc. (CRM) registered its shares for listing with the SEC on Form 8-A12B. EDGAR CIK 0001108524.
No person- or entity-level identity check is on record for this company. A name match is not one.
The inclusion bar: two or more independent sourced evidence families. This profile is reachable but not in the ranked index. It is a statement about how much evidence we hold, and about nothing else.
We have not established fit. That is not a soft no and not a soft yes — it is unknown, and it is never counted as a qualified prospect.
Five evidence lanes (activity, capital, infra, hiring, ecosystem) as within-cohort percentiles, combined with evidence-breadth weights over the 60-company baseline cohort. The ± band widens with missing lanes — it measures what the score stands on. Scores publish at 2+ evidence lanes; this company's tape carries 1 (18 signals/60d), so no number is claimed.
↗ Strongest signal: funding_magnitude (30% of the score).
↓ Scored on 1 of 4 components — funding_recency, adoption, developer had no computable metric.

I think Marc Benioff does the best example of this where, you know, we've talked about ZVR and he's been incredibly aggressive about making sure there's zero data retention and doing that on behalf of his customers.
salesforce shows up and they're like, literally like tomorrow, you can just have a CRM system. And Oh, by the way, you could use it for 20 people in your company. And there's no, you don't need some kind of like critical mass to, to make the economics work, like just like start using it.
Salesforce changed their terms of service. And in a way that includes not only the CRM data, but Slack data, which, you know, is a company they bought. And they're putting an MCP connector on top of it, which allows AI to query it. But they're telling, they're saying that you can't train on the data that's in there.
my guess is that if you're a competitor to Salesforce, you're immediately going to declare yourself open data and try and steal as many customers as possible
I can't fathom in my own brain how upset I would be if I were paying seven, eight figure license to Salesforce and they told me I couldn't train on my own data
these customers... I want to become an agentic enterprise. These are customers that I've had for like one or two decades.
Hey, you need to become an agentic enterprise. Here's the products. Every app is now agentic. Here's the data foundation.
We've had to rebuild every single one of our products to not only be the application layer where you're creating, reading, updating, deleting the data, but also working hand in hand with the agents as well.
Every company is really on a path to become an agentic enterprise.
customers want kind of the ability to buy all of it as one big package. Way more aggressively than I realized, they want kind of a complete agentic enterprise license agreement.
you can see that our AI and data product line is the fastest growing product line we've ever had. It's, you know, it's over a billion dollars now.
the million and a half conversations that are happening going forward over the next year, and a million and a half human conversations that are going forward over the next year have now bifurcated. 50% are with agents, 50% are with humans.
if we were having this conversation a year ago, and you were calling Salesforce, there would be 9,000 people that you would be interacting with globally on our service cloud, and they would be managing, creating, reading, updating, deleting data, we called CRUD database, with an app of very powerful interface, you know, with lightning. In some cases, if there's a case, maybe it gets swarmed onto Slack. But this is what they're doing. Maybe they're checking the analytics in Tableau. Maybe they're
We have this field service product that we also now have made a Gentic. And so when the field service agent from Eaton shows up, not only are they like on their phone, you can see the app, by the way, it's on the app store. Not only are they looking at all my information. Oh, it's Mark Benioff. Here's his home. You know, here's his Airstream. We got this working, or I don't understand why this is not working. He's not by himself. He's with the agent.
And that idea that we're entering the market for ITSM, but it's, you know, a whole different kind of architecture, but it's the architecture that we're talking about, which is we have to have humans that agents working together.
All of our products, so like our sales cloud, which we've talked about, you know, for decades, it's becoming a Gentic sales. Our service cloud is a Gentic service. Even our marketing cloud where, you know, we do 11 trillion emails every single year. Those are all one-way conversations today. You know, you're going to see a dream force. Those are all going to become two-way conversations.
We're got entering and we're building on Slack, you know, so it's a Slack first app. It's a Gentic also. So it's a Gentic, it's Slack first.
That is probably the most exciting, most thriving ecosystem in tech for the enterprise right now is inside Slack.
There's no better interface that I've seen, or I would use it on top of our data foundation. You know, our data foundation is our data cloud, MuleSoft, Tableau, and Informatica. That's the core of our company.
This is really the beginning of every part of the company having this kind of agentic augmentation. It's a force multiplier. It's a synergistic effect between me and the agents. And we're proving it out first at Salesforce.
Well, I think you definitely see a lot of confusion with customers or with investors on what does it mean that we're moving into an agentic era? Does it mean that software and applications go away completely? I mean, that isn't true for me.
Even in my website, I have deployed an agent on the front of it. So if you go to our website, you'll see we've taken all of our data from our website, put it into our data cloud, put an agent on the front of our website. Now you can talk to our website right through our agent as well. And so that just makes the marketing so much more efficient.
I have rebalanced my support headcount, as I said, so I can now put those heads into sales. So I've increased my distribution capacity. And now I'm also making sure that I have much more efficiency and productivity in my lead generation and in the ability to actually work with customers that are contacting me.
And this is the most exciting thing that's happened, you know, in the last nine months for Salesforce. And we also are deploying thousands of customers with the same vision.
We have now done about a million and a half conversations with customers. And at the same time, that's the agentic layer speaking to the customers. A million and a half conversations also happened through our support agents during that same period. And the CSAT scores were about the same, which was stunning. And also I was able to rebalance my headcount on my support. I've reduced it from 9,000 heads to about 5,000 because I need less heads.
There were more than 100 million leads that we have not called back at Salesforce in the last 26 years because we have not had enough people. So we just couldn't call them back. But we have now an agentic sales just for our own company, more than 10,000 leads a week right now, having conversations, turning them into pipeline. Our pipelines have never been more full.
I was talking to someone who worked at Oracle when Salesforce was starting and they were talking about multi-tenancy in a database was like a novel concept.
Siebel systems with on-premises software relative to a company like Salesforce.
if you look at the enterprise software market that are oriented towards departments, say, ServiceNow for ITSM or Salesforce for CRM or SAP for ERP systems, you know, the value that those companies derive per seat, you know, for their application is traditionally much larger, usually more than an order of magnitude of software like Zoom, even though many fewer people use it, but it's closer to business value.
CRM is going headless, or they're making a headless version. And that's the bare case, too, that you get relegated to just being a database. There's a human interface to it. Then they need to make the AI interface, which is no interface. It's just them going right into the data. You lose that customer interaction. But if the agents are going right to CRM and doing the work inside of CRM, that will solidify CRM. So you won't have to think it's going away.
Slack is a great example of the software in Slack itself. The software is not the special part. It's that everyone is there.
AI could make some of these software platforms more important because what's the first thing you do with Claude? You plug it into Slack. If that can become a key repository, that will make Slack a permanent fixture within the organization.
You might have 500 of ARR, 700 of ARR of AI. So you've got this huge base. Now, maybe this starts to work, but it takes a while.
But it's hard because if you're a company like Salesforce, you've got 40 billion in sales.
I got Salesforce running for sales staff
now with salesforce.com right exact before you had to go and and talk to the it guys say oh please load gold mine and you know or whatever program now it's just like yeah I'll just you know spite my credit card and I don't even have to talk to that dude anymore I got Salesforce running for sales staff yeah
i think compute you know compute is is um compute is very mature on the full application stack when you look at things like salesforce.com and facebook
I'll pick a sales force from the pricing and ease of use standpoint and salesforce took what everyone else would have called a bunch of hosted databases and said you know what people it's not about the hosting it's about the application on top of them and we're going to give you an application in the cloud and you know before a cloud was cloud right you had salesforce back when it was sas not infrastructure as a service and salesforce said we we won't nickel and dime you to death we won't charge
i think they do trust salesforce.com in my experience
salesforce.com knows how to do that right so they understand how to sell how to service how to support google doesn't get it
we actually like salesforce a lot as a model i kind of frown on the the cloud computing model that says nickel and dime you to death for every little bit of bandwidth or compute use and are big fans of the and don't shoot me for this of the application model uh where you pay for a seat and that seat entitles you to use the apps as much as you want in our case use the cloud it as a service as much as you want
salesforce bought that company it was a hated company by the tech elite it was a loved company by sales people every six percent absolutely and the interesting part of the model is everybody contributes to it can use it for free as long as you add value to it and that's fine because then you get free production right yeah but anyone who wants to pay for it who's not going to spend the time consuming it can pay for it so you get free production and and other people get value and pay for it's a br
when when the applications are around a single framework like say a facebook environment or a salesforce.com environment then you can define much better how the apps communicate with the api of that environment to exchange data
when you use salesforce.com they have something called the app exchange it kind of makes sense there because you're not in the app exchange looking for generic applications if you're in the app exchange you're a salesforce.com user and you're trying to juice up your product to do something that it can't do today
if you look at Salesforce they put way way more money into marketing to be very very unprofitable for a long time to become the number one player in the market
but there are people who are Salesforce right Salesforce has a lot less Buzz it's a publicly traded company worth billions of dollars and I think that they've done very very well even though I don't hear much about them anymore even though you know that guy on top keeps talking about Tibet
like what salesforce is doing with you know pulling in jigsaw for instance so even just the basic integration with salesforce um would definitely be a big help
we have a we have a partner by the name of job partners that has built uh their hiring system around salesforce and we're working with them okay
salesforce actually as far as i know they only have one i only know of one company it's actually in la and that's electronic arts that uses sales force for actual uh as a hiring system if you will right
we chose salesforce.com and force.com very very consciously we saw that as leaps and bounds ahead of anything especially if you think about two years ago there was nothing that even came close to where salesforce was with their ability to stage custom application development in the cloud
cloud craze which is your enterprise e-commerce platform you've developed in the cloud now cloud cloud creates i believe it was the first e-commerce product that was developed 100 natively on the force.com platform is that right bill that's correct
we've been building e-commerce enterprise class e-commerce systems for almost 10 years now in what i call traditional web or java technology and it's typical in in those implementations to to spend a great deal of time and effort energy cost to integrate what is essentially another silo which is your e-commerce system and integrate that back to your crm so that you can effectively market
the ability to do artificial intelligent kind of things out of the cloud. All this stuff is going to be coming from those guys
they really saturated the number of features you're able to offer in the CRM space. Now they need to acquire the features from outside vendors and they're going to be able to do that rapidly.
This is going to be a trend you're going to see from Salesforce. They're looking to round out their CRM technology providing lots of key components that quite frankly the on-remise CRM systems can't can't touch.
Salesforce finished its Jigsaw integration... Jigsaw can now make real time updates to contact and company information through Salesforce chatter... that to me is extremely valuable and it's $29 a month, but that's in addition to the existing CRM use charges.
I actually think that it'll probably be a little bit more than half but I think everyone's going to have some kind of private Cloud as a as a backup strategy just in case so I I'm a little bit more cautious about it if you asked me this like three years ago i' be like yeah everybody's going to be in the cloud but but I don't think I'm that religious anymore
we're Salesforce users we go out and use that for a CRM perspective
they came back and said hey yeah we're using the cloud but we're not going to touch all Sor stuff
if you look at the Japanese Market the big Japan post win by Salesforce and a whole bunch of other Partnerships that are going over there really it's a demand for them to have a Japanese uh data center plus it gives them an Entre Point into China which is one of the big things people really don't want to put their data centers in China right now but they want to we out and so it gets them closer there Singapore is probably next on our list Australia that's another place where you definitely take
Salesforce in moving or creating a point to present using a partner like NTT and it's a good company I've dealt with them before is the right thing to do because they can get around some of these regulations so they can store different types of data on these system system they can start onboarding some very particular customers that have from some very specific compliance issues to deal with
we're starting to see this this sniping between the various larger Cloud providers in the case Larry Ellison owns a private Cloud you know the whole X logic thing and Salesforce is a completely different product and it doesn't make logical sense when a lot of these comments are flying back and forth
they've proven that they've been successful with the architecture that they've been living with for the last you know 12 years
look at Salesforce Salesforce is a great example like I think uh Mark benf is great guy I met a few times I think horrible business I would not trade if we did an even one1 switch really like he gets 37 signals I get Salesforce no no effing way look at their [ __ ] numbers their profitability is like 7% right that's [ __ ] terrible
I think this is going to be a big threat to uh folks who are in the platforms and service space including Salesforce and Google.
we had that happen with sales for us they gave us like a $500 a month six seat license and I'm like how is this possible and like it's only six seats and when you get your seventh then it turns into 3,000 a month
I think the world has a lot to to uh you know owes a lot to 37 signals uh the world owes a lot to Salesforce there's a lot of pioneers in this field that really made wait made uh made this possible
they said here are some areas where we think there's a lot of openness in the offering and they would you know if they started to want to encroach on an area which is naturally going to happen in a platform a community they would tip people off well in advance
I had sold my company to Salesforce and got to see it from the inside that I thought they were particularly or we were particularly effective at is we would do a one-year roadmap we did do a two-year road map but a one year that was pretty baked yeah and we knew where our gaps were relative to competition so we would regularly go out to the community and say if you want to fill anything in these gaps we're not likely to do it for okay
salesforce.com might be having some success in that big company and and maybe displacing some other legacy you know we'll prefer to see sql crm now as a legacy system even though they're owned by oracle but you know so they're now making their headway in those companies
it's these different ecosystems with sales force being probably the biggest and and the reason is is they have a big following whether you look at their enterprise sector above a thousand or or below and they have a lot of deals that they're doing and those are companies that are just turning on crm they can get it up and running in 30 days
even things like salesforce have a very muddled message about understanding who's been accessing your sales force records
well the other thing too is salesforce.com is also working on additional mobile platform capabilities they do again have a web browser which works great i mean the big question i don't really see the announcement as anything either
I got, you know, support from executive to take three months and figure something out to help create an outbound process because what they were trying before wasn't working. Cold calling, zero results. and also hiring outside firms to cold call for them like literally zero results not even 10% results like zero results
The big problem they had was Salesforce, who now is probably a two billion something dollar company. They were a lot smaller back then. I started, there's about 150 people. They were just starting to hire lots of salespeople and expand their field sales force. So hiring lots of sales people, but they didn't have a lot of leads for all these new salespeople, right? So there these all these sales people were starving.
they asked him how you going to deal with more Nimble competitors and he said well we've got 10,000 sales people that's not an answer because each of those sales people cost them $100,000 to $300,000 a year we have no sales people
Salesforce um but most of those systems are written with Legacy architecture and code and they're actually expensive to run
they're a Enterprise company and it's hard for Enterprise companies to dance and be nimble with small businesses and that's our bread and butter
if people will not tell you the price of something it is a big indication that you're about to be ripped off
with Salesforce you can't just go and buy you have to go get on the phone with somebody and negotiate I mean it's a pain in the ass
he pioneered the cloud and laid the foundation for all these other companies to go after that and that's great
hey when we get back from this commercial break I want to hear uh how you're taking on Salesforce because that's the big elephant in the room they've had a tremendous success in fact if you didn't take your 10-year layoff you may have created Salesforce and I want to know how you feel when you see Mark benof going public and creating a multi-billion dollar company that if you hadn't taken those eight years to spend with your family you might have built will you tell us your honest reaction to th
I think Salesforce now is $300 a month well it's it's aund it's $135 it's $65 it's $35 it depends on which way you want to go with it but if you want to get access to their app store it's at least $65 per month and um and and that's where all the goodies are so it's sort of a big barrier to entry
i'm sure salesforce would see what they're doing as an original idea
salesforce is salesforce is copying us
we think that enterprises are going to be using multiple vendors right so they might have zendesk and they might have salesforce and they're going to have box.com formerly net and they're just gonna yeah so we're a social switzerland we wanna we have a platform approach we wanna work with every everyone
i mean salesforce is coming into your backyard they have like sort of the crosshairs on you guys do they not
but you know but we don't we don't think that every enterprise tool should be should build a social network into itself right
i think the thing to realize about chatter is it's basically an activity feed for what's happening in salesforce right so it's useful for getting a record of you know when people change an opportunity from open to closed or change a dollar you see those record changes but that's pretty much all it is like those those um sort of system generated messages are coming at such a fast velocity that it actually drowns out when humans want to just talk into the feed right so yammer is more about collabo
um but then the cloud came along and started to decentralize it so salesforce was kind of a midpoint where you still had it making decisions about security if you didn't sort of pass the security threshold right then they wouldn't let you in
whereas salesforce it's so expensive that you really have to go through i.t and get it set up
it took salesforce.com uh about 12 years to get to 3 million users and it took us about three years to get three million users now we're kind of well past that and that's because this is so much more viral it's designed as a social network where salesforce is designed as contact management crm
I'm sure Salesforce would see what they're doing as idea
Salesforce is copying us
we have a sales for integration so all of the the activity feeds that you get in Salesforce you now pull into Yammer and it'll appear in your ticker
I think the thing to realize about chatter is it's basically an activity feed for what's happening in Salesforce right so it's it's useful for getting a record of when people change an opportunity from open to closed or change a dollar amount you see those record changes yeah but that's pretty much all it is like those those um sort of system generated messages are coming at such a fast velocity that it actually drowns out when humans want to just talk into the feed so Yammer is more about colla
it's the VPS sales who really brought Salesforce in in the early days
Salesforce was kind of a midpoint point where you still had it making decisions about security if you didn't sort of pass the security threshold then they wouldn't let you in
whereas Salesforce it's so expensive that you really have to go through it and get it set up
it took salesforce.com uh about uh 12 years to get to 3 million users and it took us about 3 years to get 3 million users now we're kind of well past that and that's because this is so much more viral it's designed as a social network whereas Salesforce was designed as contact management CRM really
you look at Salesforce the complete opposite example of open table which has sat on Angel list or at every startup event and killed Innovation if if you will or they
Salesforce definitely gets points for that concept absolutely uh of renting the software whatever
you can look at another company like Salesforce I keep picking on Salesforce because I think that they're one of the most egregious violators of this in terms of accounting Shenanigans and they can just go on their merry away and like nobody gives a damn right because it has growth and it has earnings even though it doesn't have earnings it has growth yeah and it has revenues but so do all these other things right
there companies that continue to amaze me in how they defy the gravity of the market was this uh LinkedIn Salesforce other companies like that that are in my mind like the same kinds of companies in that there
Salesforce I think is a perfect example they keep pulling the same sort of accounting schemes where oh let's not count uh stock compensation for example even though it's a huge chunk of of our expenses we're going to sort of push that off the books and then we're going to publish these numbers saying we were profitable
CRM software to think of things like Salesforce that's really at the core of if you're you know big Enterprise
we have a big company now
we've now delivered you know forty-three public quarters we've been public for ten years you've seen our you've seen our chart over ten years
you're one of the world's greatest living marketers ... you did not neglect the opportunity to educate people about salesforce.com and it's and its products
Salesforce has a a 50 million dollar effort focused on the San Francisco public schools right now we have 5,000 employees right downtown
sales were said 32 percent core revenue growth you know this year we're now the sixth largest software company in the world at the end of this quarter we'll be at a six billion dollar annual run rate we'll probably be about the fifth largest software company in the world you know we've got great you know we grew our bottom line also by 175 basis points
you look at our attrition rates are very low you know yeah I know we have just we you know we have a lot of really you know highly tenured employees and I think it's really has to do with you know we create a culture where you know we're highly differentiated from other organizations especially in this category
we have a segment on each of our six major products so when we do our sales cloud project we come in we pitch the sales cloud here's what's great about it here's why it's become a multi-billion dollar product
New Relic workday um service now sales force those are all relatively young companies that are operating at hundreds of millions of dollars of Revenue and and that indicates that they're real that they're not Bubblicious in any regard
Salesforce is at $6 billion in recurring Revenue six billion how do you get to six billion you don't get there with five bucks a month
we all owe a huge debt to Salesforce sales Salesforce Salesforce you know marketing pushed through the whole idea of no software and SAS pushed through the idea that people would pay 19 and then 80 and then $200 or $300 a month per user for a product
we like the Salesforce model where realistically not only you locked in but you're locked in with office and Oracle too you're locked in paying every year every year so Wall Street likes the financial engineering side
when you're looking at Salesforce to developer platform it's all about empowering the end user of salesforce.com and so the API is built to empower people to use more of Salesforce and get even more out of Salesforce they don't care if you log into Salesforce every day they care if you're getting value out of the data that's in Salesforce so if the API helps you get data into Salesforce and pull data out of Salesforce and makes Salesforce more sticky then of course Salesforce is gonna invest mor
a quarter of Salesforce uses Trello but there's no one team that's not like how do you then deal with billing in an organization where everybody's ground up like paying for on different credit cards
we're like the top integration for all the people that you slack so even their customers are all using Trello as well I think Google Docs might be one higher or something
that's pretty bold to do that too because what it that tells me as a buyer is that you're very confident you're going to infect the organization
if you assume the average person is making $25 or $50 an hour somewhere in that range and they save an hour every quarter using Trello and they're one hour just one hour more efficient it easily pays for itself
we have over a million people a day yeah that's a lot for enterprise software it's like 1.1 or 1.2 or something like that
we just passed a 10 million AR wow anur Revenue yes fantastic so it's 65 people uh they're making some amount of money each and they have a little bit of overhead each y I can do the back of the envelope math I think you're exactly at break even right now that's um magical place to be that's about 3x what we were doing last year a little over that Rex is a pretty great runup uh for an Enterprise software company
Siebel was a villain for Salesforce.
And there were two at the time. One was called NetLedger, which ultimately became NetSuite, and one was called Salesforce.com. And Salesforce.com already had a CEO, and it turned out NetLedger was looking for a CEO.
Salesforce is definitely ahead of the curve and thinking about AI
we have you know a lot of amazing companies like Nvidia Salesforce sa P and even like you know GE appliances etcetera it's not just kind of like tech companies visa was one of our first ones
companies like PayPal Salesforce Linkedin Strava all use us for either memberships or corporate buyouts
Cindy Robbins who's the chief people officer at Salesforce which is a customer of ours has said that when they did that compensation audit they started paying men some men more a compensation on as a compensation audit
I think Benioff tackled it head-on with his survey like I think that was proactive when he did a survey about pay
it's kind of came originally out of Salesforce and other companies who sort of pioneered the NetSuite who pioneered software as a service
there's been a wave of you know the net suites and the you know sales forces of the world that kind of moved most of the back office systems to the cloud
Salesforce is a great example okay so Salesforce is a horizontal SAS everybody uses Salesforce it's embedded if you try to rip Salesforce out its I just asked it's because as data and everybody like yeah it's sticky it's it's annuity it's yes it's going you know it's yeah just keeps paying you every year
something like you know Oracle or Salesforce you know especially Oracle right it used to be that to even get Oracle installed that would come with an army of Accenture consultants who would show up to your office you're like well I paid a million dollars just to install this thing I'm not gonna rip this out now all right and people have a hard time ignoring some cost and truly on the margin it's it's difficult for them to think about switching
the people are becoming a sales force shop or hubs botch
so what they have of course is this on you know ecosystem that's just you know amazing and and unique and so it's it's pretty compelling to use even if it is an old-looking product
Salesforce has bottom-up and top-down pay for the big accounts that have sales for they have a Salesforce I think well that sells for us although I I mean from what I hear the the product itself is quite long in the tooth and yeah they're trying to fix that
this is why our friend Elon is just or Steve Jobs the or Benioff you know they've become incredibly good at this cadence of releasing product after product now some of them are duds some of them are not important some of them fall flat but some of them like the cyber truck people won't shut up about
if you think about like what Benioff does with Dreamforce every year I mean it's you know Dreamforce is a launch event I mean they do all the other stuff too there's partners and customers and all of it but they're always presenting a ton of new products which is a forcing function for the product team
Salesforce you know if the default CRM system yep they will let you define or it will let you define the stages of a deal and then the sales reps will kind of advance the deal and then typically those stages will have a percent probability assigned to them and so you could come up with a weighted pipe
So the same way that Benioff is taking advantage of the agent trend, knowledge workers are taking advantage of it
a SaaSpocalypse and Benioff stock was getting hammered by the market. I mean, down 50%. Now it's up back 20.
there are certain systems of record that are extremely compatible and complimentary to AI agents. And if they are positioned right by their founders, they can lean into this trend.
just a few months ago, everyone was saying that horizontal SaaS wasn't going to survive. And one of Leopold's major positions in that fund was to short all these SaaS products, including Salesforce. And what we've seen is that has turned out to be wrong or totally overblown.
these horizontal, monolithic companies like Salesforce are just unique, Workday, Oracle with respect to their GL. It's just very difficult, SAP, IFS, it's very difficult to see a path where you can replicate these businesses, and they become the repository and the single source of truth
And now the version of Slack today is like a seven out of 10. And it's getting like 10% better every couple of weeks, I'm noticing. So he's going to do a parallel link sacks, he's going to have his own agents. And he's going to let you come in with your agents, his agents might be a little bit behind, but you're also going to get those agents for free inside of Salesforce. It's like a two ways to win.
I got to say, he's like one of the most underestimated and underappreciated product and sales executives in our industry, because I was talking to him when we were at Davos Saks about Slack. And he was like, tell me about what you're doing. And I was like, listen, you have all my data. I can't get my data. My team wants to move off Slack. They want to use this open source product specifically so I can get all this information. He, again, to your point, Freiberg, put me on with the sales team. An
Because now think about the agent as a power user of Salesforce that knows how to use Salesforce perfectly. You don't necessarily need to hire this like team of highly priced consultants to figure out Salesforce. The agent knows how to do it. So it can unlock the full value of Salesforce and all these actions. And then after you develop trust in your agent, you, the user, are just going to click the always allow button. And now the agent can basically tap the full capabilities of Salesforce.
a point he brought with me that I think is underestimated is that he says there's a lot of trap value in Salesforce, meaning we know it's got this incredibly broad, rich platform with tons of functionality. The average user is never going to find all those things, but the agent will.
Now, why is this ultimately good for his business and not bad is because like I said, I still think that you need systems of record. You need the AI agents to basically go to those systems, get the data from a canonical source of truth. You just don't want there to be any probabilistic variability around that. And you want AI agents to be able to write back to those systems and you want to be able to write back to those workflows. So what's happening here is that it's not a rip and replace. Thei
I think Benioff is doing all the right things here. And you could kind of say it's a, if you can't beat them, join them type approach, which is he made this deal with Anthropic. What is that deal? I mean, first of all, he's going to be offering Anthropics models inside of Salesforce. More importantly, I think this is really the critical thing. He is integrating Salesforce into Claude. He's willing to allow Claude to be the front end, to have the sort of the primary user relationship. And Claude
I just think this whole SaaS apocalypse narrative was overplayed.
Enterprises want certainty, they have compliance, they want professionally managed software that's been running and debugged for years. I mean, just think about all the bug reports that have been filed against Salesforce for over 20 years, right? And that's the hard part to get right.
I do not believe that core systems of record like CRM are going to get ripped and replaced with something vibe coded.
Well, this narrative of the SaaSpocalypse was totally overdone. I mean, this whole SaaS is dead narrative is just getting shredded today with Salesforce being up over 20%.
And it's not on rebuilding a communications tool like Slack, or a messaging tool like Gmail, or a CRM tool like Salesforce. And at the time, Mark and I were talking on the phone, and he's like, you know, hey, try Salesforce, I'll set you up, come on, do it. And I was like, no, no, no. And then he's like, Yes, yes, yes. And he's so persistent, you guys know, Mark, he's like, so persistent, he's like, best sales guy to text with me, and kept texting every day, are we up yet? Are we up yet? Are we
I think the horizontal platform companies, these tools that are horizontal, CRM works across many different verticals... So I think that's kind of how I view this, the real SaaSpocalypse. It's more of a vertical SaaSpocalypse, which is software that's designed for just one vertical 100%. And that's where I think things get blown up.
I think what you're seeing is Mark is finding a way to play well with the models, support harnesses, but also build his own, and now start to push into this next phase. And I think that's why his net dollar retention is strong. That's why his revenue is strong. That's why he's guiding up. And that's why the stocks ripped, I think, was it like up 43% since I said it had bottomed.
I think the high end of the market where Mark operates, where the large monoliths operate is quite safe. What people are finding is, hey, hold on a second. This is a lot harder than we thought. It's not like, boop, boop, boop, put in a prompt and beep, bap, boop, it all works. It's not how it works. I think we're a little oversold. Now I think this consolidation and the re-rating can happen in the opposite direction. So what is the opposite trade? The opposite trade is who has constructive net d
They know how to do this. So, does that mean Slack will be as innovative as it would have been as a standalone company? I mean, we know the answer is no, right? But it has the brand, right? It won the space, and communications became so much more important than we thought, right? When we were talking about HipChat and Slack back in the day, we thought these were cute little apps, right? But now we run our lives on these apps, right?
Yeah, they'll just ask for 10, and they'll price it for value. They're not ripping anybody off. But that's what works. That's why their acquisitions in the enterprise work.
I want a million dollars from Procter & Gamble or whatever. Mark will go in and ask for 10. He'll go in and ask for 10. He's an animal.
So, Slack only has one product, but it went from one segment, which was sort of freemium SMB developer to enterprise in a way that's rare. I mean, it went so upmarket, it's almost unbelievable, right? I believe the majority of its growth is all enterprise-fueled. So, that's something that is not their DNA, and that is something that is Mark's DNA, and they will go in with confidence. And where Slack maybe got nervous—I mean, look, Slack crushed it, right? But everyone gets nervous in sales.
if you look at something like Salesforce, right, really great product, but it's expensive. Um, I got pitched a number of times for sales management software, CRM software that was lower priced. Um, and that was the go-to market strategy. So there's always an option to lower the price Google docs, right? And Gmail was, and that whole Google office suite was a way to make Microsoft office cheaper. So you can look at somebody's margin and lower it.
the public markets as Amazon, as Google, as Salesforce, and so many others have proven. This idea that you can't innovate in the public markets is total nonsense.
Well, so that is complicated. So we, we build language models. We build smaller models, you know, to sort of, you know, build semantic understanding of your company knowledge. But, but we as well as Salesforce and, and, you know, like other, other products, SaaS product companies, all of us use, you know, APIs to, you know, you know, to these large language model providers like GPT-4 or Gemini to do some work. So typically in that model, what happens is that, you know, you're basically sending p
So, so typically, like, you know, companies like, you know, SaaS companies like Salesforce or Atlassian product, you know, or, or, you know, any of these systems, they're not building language models, language models are built by no, but they're building language models into their product.
It's a, it did 900 million operating cashflow last quarter and 9.3 billion in revenue. Okay. There you go.
Uh, okay. So apple was already formed. Microsoft was already formed. Apple was already formed. Um, you can't count the YouTube because like above my Google may have Google on the list already. Meta came after that. That was 2004 founding. I believe. Tesla was 2001 or two founding, I guess. Uh, okay. So Salesforce would, by the way, fit.
Because if you're like a new source of truth and you're trying to compete with like HubSpot or Salesforce, it's really hard to get that roadmap time from every single vendor that is integrating with HubSpot and Salesforce. Like they might not want to spend that time integrating with you, but with merge, it's a, it's free distribution.
But for instance, like getting our Salesforce sandbox, like took a while and we needed just like, you began to like fill out a bunch of forms.
And if you want an example of this, think about, I think the company was Encino, which was the first Salesforce platform company to go public. So they built an entire public company just on top of Salesforce's platform. And that's great for Salesforce because more data, information and business flow through their operations.
The dream for every source of truth is to do what Salesforce has done. Like it is impossible to not use Salesforce because every single sales ops tool is built on top of it. And if you don't build on top of Salesforce, it's like, if you don't use Salesforce, and you're kind of screwed because there's just so many tools that are around it. Like, sure you can use like some of these really long tail providers, but it makes it really difficult. It makes it harder.
If you're like a new source of truth and you're trying to compete with like HubSpot or Salesforce, it's really hard to get that roadmap time from every single vendor that is integrating with HubSpot and Salesforce.
there is opportunity for startups because people enterprises we talk to try out features like agent force and realize wait this is not what was promised and so there's opportunities through domain specific workflows you know an ai native approach to actually make that promise work
we're not adding any more software engineers next year, because we've increased the productivity this year with the Asian force and other AI technology.
according to reporting from 2023, Matthew McConaughey is getting paid quote more than $10 million a year to serve as a creative advisor and TV pitchman.
Matthew McConaughey to me has become the Salesforce guy who also does some acting a little bit. He's in a lot of ads. He was in two ads this year. That's too much. That's saturation. That's brand dilution.
I mean, it's like 50 grand to set up, right? Like that's the thing with Salesforce is you need to then a Salesforce engineer, you know, on staff. The whole thing's super expensive.
If you were to look at a product like Salesforce, considered like the gold standard in managing a sales team, you could come in with a, you know, a lightweight version. That's not what a Salesforce cost per salesperson today. Is it like 2000?
The context here for Salesforce is that the company's growth has slowed. Salesforce is growing eight, nine, 10% a quarter, even with some relatively large acquisitions, Jason. So my thought here is as Salesforce pushes more and more into AI and AI agents, they need to expand the TAM and get out of just customer data. And so working with a company like Informatica will give them access to a lot of customers that have non-CRM data, and therefore they can apply their same agenda technology, back to
It helps companies find out where their data is. It helps them figure out the governance for it. And also to make sure that they're doing good data observability, Jason, which is making sure that your data sources are accurate and not spitting out complete garbage. Now that's pretty boring. I think in a pre AI world.
I bet you the outside investors were like, listen, it's not going to get through anyway. So what's the point of all of this to try to even buy things, spend years doing it, then having like Adobe, having the figma deal canceled. So I bet you that was why the activist investors who wanted him to lay people off and get the earnings to spike, you know, and get, thus get the stock price to spike.
That was back in 2023, because he was under pressure by outside investors to stop doing so many big deals. They wanted him to focus more on cost cutting. And then he went back to doing deals.
Salesforce is buying a company called Informatica... it's an $8 billion transaction. And Salesforce, as we all recall, is a company that pledged back in 2023. They had disbanded its M&A committee and was going to pull back from mega deals. And then about 20 minutes later, Mark Benioff was like, well, that's boring. I'm going to go back to doing deals. Tried to buy the company last year. Didn't work out. And now we're just scooping it up, Jason, for about $3 billion less.
It's multi-platform, not a great interface. It's super hard to cross in between things, putting in your weird URL every time you need to log in. Like, it's just not, it is. And I should, it should be easier for me to make a calendar invite from there, do all the things that like a super human can do. And you're absolutely right. Like it just, it, they got acquired and this does happen. I think, right.
No. Corporate IT departments did not, they were not comfortable with the security situation with, you know, I mean, I think they, they like a thing that they know. And Slack, I think didn't necessarily have the security topsy would have thought that those would go up as being, you know, being part of Salesforce. Salesforce, but it's absolutely true. If you've got synced products that are all in the same family, it's just a lot easier.
Slack grew revenue, 15% slower after becoming a part of Salesforce. Interesting. Then it did in its last year as a standalone company. Remember Salesforce. I had actually totally forgotten this, that Salesforce and Slack agreed on that acquisition back in December, 2020. Salesforce paid $27 billion for Slack. Right. That was roughly 27 times ARR at the time that deal was agreed upon. The deal was cash in stock. And that at the time, again, was a pretty fair price given the market. And it looks g
I think Salesforce, by the way, had like a down quarter. I think they like everybody. Slootman is coming for everybody.
cut the team in half, you know, that seems highly likely, right? If Slack has been operating really as a as a separate division, and they're like, Okay, wait a second, just as a matter of pure mercenary efficiency, yeah, we can fold this thing into Salesforce's offerings, lay off most of the people who are working on it, because you know, there's duplication.
I'm gonna have to do potentially layoffs, right? I'm gonna have to deal with like this crazy war,
in a belt tightening environment, if it was the days of, you know, milk and honey here, maybe they would have made Stewart some incredible offer to stay, or they would have some new project that they would want him to spearhead and they make him some unbelievable offer. But in a constricting environment, maybe those offers aren't available.
given the market conditions and Salesforce is contract constricting, like any other SaaS product
it just makes me wonder if something's going on Salesforce, or if it's just one of those times where like things are changing the economies, you know, it's like, everything's been awesome. There could be an abrupt shift to not awesome internally happening.
a lot of times acquiring companies want to get rid of the founder, um, you know, and that is the, that becomes the delicate balance. You want the founder there for their creativity, for the spirit of the company for culture, but sometimes the founder can be a blocker, right? Um, because you want to do things like you're saying, integrate the product more deeply into other products. So what if all of a sudden Slack, every contact you mention, it creates a Salesforce record in their CRM system or
Product velocity slows down. Usually when a company is acquired by a bigger company, because there's just not the same level of urgency around keeping the product going. And I think you could argue that we saw that was slack. It sort of stagnated for a long time.
if an internal person takes something over, they might not be as precious about integrations, uh, or changes to the product, you know, the original philosophy of the project, uh, and the product and the, the founding team is gone.
which I think we can assume means that Slack is headed for some greater integration.
airbnb slack twilio salesforce like those have been high performing companies with really positive work cultures
Saw net new ARR decreased by two thirds in the most recent quarter. That's a huge slowdown. But it implies the need to cut over $2 billion of sales and marketing if it wants to maintain CAC payback at reasonable levels, i.e., you know, the customer cost, customer acquisition costs. And then he points out that over time, this could become a vicious cycle. Layoffs lead to seat contraction, lead to sales slowdown, lead to cost cutting, lead to layoffs and repeat.
when they see a new competitor come along whether it's slack or zoom or uh or okta is they'll basically just clone it create a worse version of that product and throw it into the bundle and so now every single enterprise is getting the slack clone or the zoom clone or whatever for free and that has a huge material impact on you know it pulls the rug out from under those startups
unique i think it's interesting you know that slack seems to have gotten the worst of both worlds here which is that salesforce didn't defend against the microsoft move by folding slack into salesforce products right because here you have this situation and there was an interesting anecdotal story from the wall street journal article today they interviewed the chief information officer at carhartt which by the way is like huge right now with the kids again love to see it um the cio said that sla
and then butterfield seems to be saying to be clear that he had not been doing that for the last two years so yeah so yeah i mean it this is the problem when founders check out
what's happening here is i think a weak corporate culture at slack and and you know like or maybe because stewart's not there there's nobody to protect the select team there's nobody to defend them there's nobody to say no we don't do it that way here anymore
this is a common issue in the m a world we saw this acutely at microsoft and google before and the best practice in silicon valley is if you buy something with a strong culture you leave it be let it have a separate building let it have a separate p and l and if there are things that uh you can take off their plate like say infrastructure in youtube's case or the ad network in the youtube case google youtube but most people would consider that the greatest acquisition of all time
the meeting was focused on the clashing cultures between slack and salesforce yes and stewart butterfield responded to a question about that by admitting that he quote wasn't very successful integrating the two cultures he said the problem has been there's no incorporation of the slack culture into the salesforce culture and unless there is some element of that then it's not integration in any sense it's just the elimination
salesforce co-teeo brett taylor stepped down a couple dozen salesforce executives have left over the past year
he uh is being replaced by a long time salesforce executive lydianne jones not by someone that he handpicked
slack founder and ceo steward butterfield announced that he would be stepping down and leaving salesforce which was almost certainly due to the fact that he had vested that his options had fully vested because it was exactly two years after slack first agreed to be acquired however sometimes you get rich and you keep your job that you love and he definitely did not
it is likely not helped let's say exacerbated dramatically by the fact that microsoft started bundling what is effectively slack's core offering for free into office so that's microsoft teams
salesforce bought slack for almost 28 billion dollars about two years ago and now slack is underperforming
elliot has taken a quote multi or made a multi-billion dollar investment in salesforce according to wall street journal sources salesforce has 156 billion dollar market cap so assuming a you know single digit percentage ownership but uh elliot is not the first apparently activist investor to come in another one came in saying uh that they were worried about it margins and overall profitability starboard value is the one that came in in october and said uh that the company had a valuation discoun
elliott management uh the activist investors also made a multi-billion dollar deal to invest in salesforce
for years, this has been a company that just seems to print money without even breaking a sweat.
I do think, you know, it's interesting, Benioff talked about profitability, specifically from the earnings call and said, profitability is truly our number one strategy. And that's my number one strategy. That's what I've been focused on with the management team. That's the number one thing we talked about at the start of every meeting. A key part of what we're doing is making sure that every executive in this company knows that profitability is our highest priority, right? Like, Zuckerberg talk
Salesforce literally had active investors sniffing around when Jana Partners comes and starts leaking dish about your internal stuff to the media.
Salesforce is really following that same strategy that Meta did, which is cut spend, lower expectations, and increased share buybacks.
this is what's really a big deal. Salesforce bought back $2.3 billion worth of its own stock for shareholders and announced that it was increasing its share buyback program to $20 billion going forward.
Salesforce is juicing its stock price with the same strategy that Meta just used. And it seems like Benioff is listening super closely to his new activist investors
Salesforce announced earnings. Its stock jumped as much as 16% after reporting those Q4 earnings and playing the Wall Street game. Very similar to Meta. We're going to break down how tech is now being forced to play ball with Wall Street.
companies like Salesforce, uh, will want to have a proprietary model, right? And, and, and sounds like they're working with, uh, opening already, uh, and chat GPT to help build the foundations of Einstein, which is their AI platform.
think about how much traffic they could spill over to duck duck go brave or perplexity or anybody in that kind of zone of excellence it would be extraordinary for those companies
perplexity is a great user interface they really know how to build slick interfaces
before 2030 you're going to see Amazon which has massively invested in this replace all factory workers and all drivers the idea that when you order something from Amazon a human would touch it at any point in that supply chain is insane it will be 100 you know robotic which means all of those workers are going away all those Amazon jobs ups gone fedex gone all of those are going to be gone and those companies are going to be more profitable and when you order something it's going to come faster
hands on some internal documents from amazon the cloud and e-commerce giant these are from the 2024 time frame so they're a little bit dated but essentially the company's investments in automation at the warehouse level in particular are going to help it hire 160 000 fewer people through 2027 and the times writes that because they have them up to about 30 cents per package that they pick and then deliver 30 cents is not that much but if you multiply times billions of packages it adds up quite qu
they were talking about how they're using their ai powered virtual agent chatbot and they say that our ability to control customer support costs over time even as volume has gone up has contributed to an increase in gross margin from 60 percent in fiscal 24 to 68 and fiscal 25 and even more so essentially they're automating things jason static team size cost savings and uh it's helping the company look more profitable so kind of an ai story and a fintech story
i can't really say anything i mean um you know ips have quiet periods i think um just hoping they didn't apply when the government was shut down but apparently not in general um my understanding of what's happening at a meta situation is just uh because of the government shut down the sec for a short period was not reviewing or fully reviewing s1s and then they actually issued a rule that would allow companies to still go public um if they did certain filings and certain disclosures and then wit
i was asking because there's a great note in there s1 jason you'll love this uh they were talking about how they're using their ai powered virtual agent chatbot and they say that our ability to control customer support costs over time even as volume has gone up has contributed to an increase in gross margin from 60 percent in fiscal 24 to 68 and fiscal 25 and even more so essentially they're automating things jason static team size cost savings and uh it's helping the company look more profitabl
it definitely i would say it scared us enough to sell to microsoft
they were interested in buying the company for around 250 million dollars
benioff had a bunch of like engineers who wanted to build it in-house and so they they vetoed doing a deal and so they ended up building chatter and they threw the 300 engineers at it and they basically spun their wheels for a few years
he launched his product to be kind of a clone of yammer inside of salesforce but he was initially charging fifteen dollars per seat we were charging like five and so they massively overpriced it and and they event and then they they were on this like slippery slope where they kept lowering the price to compete better with us and then finally they realized that they should just give the thing away for free as a strategic move
it's sort of like a feed inside of the the crm product it didn't really succeed as a standalone collaboration product and so we won that battle
benioff's dream has always been at least since he uh you know launched chatter to compete with with us when we were doing yammer this is back in 2010 2011 is he his dream has always been to have a product that could get him onto every seat in the enterprise you know his current product set has is departmental i mean you've got kind of the crm product for sales and they've got the support cloud for customer support and they've got the marketing cloud for marketing and so he's gone department by d
i think benioff is just looking at this like if if google and microsoft and apple are too scared to buy things because of antitrust well i'm under the radar of the antitrust trillion dollars so
i think brett also understands network effects really well um and you know by the way in this interesting twist of fate benioff was the underbidder i think for linkedin and so um you know we've uh we've seen mark around the hoop on these you know social network network effect business tool um acquisitions before and finally also twitter he was running he was hanging
the other thing is the president of salesforce is uh brett taylor who uh was our cto at facebook who i worked with
the size growing size growing about 60 a year and salesforce is growing about 22 something
if you look at the revenue um slack was doing 800 million run rates anyway rounded up to a billion and yet salesforce at 20 billion uh so five percent revenue to revenue and then they got ten percent of the company
i think it's a huge slam dunk acquisition and i go back to the idea of intercompany um network effects um i think they exist and i think they're real and i think that the slack the the slack um product team's ability to innovate around that um was not as fast as it could have been but it was still very unique and i think it was um it was a true moat
the salesforce stock traded down afterwards because if they were willing to sell at that small of a premium the forecast internally is probably feeling not that strong and then people translate that into hey salesforce bought something that's not that strong um you know there's there's
we we opened the direct listing at 40 or 41 and then this was at 45.
they probably had was a realization that they couldn't go wall to wall inside of a customer because they didn't really have a product that was useful or usable to every single individual inside of an enterprise and so both of those two things create asymmetries there's a level of fear inside of slack and there's a level of fear inside of salesforce both of them are about the fear of disruption and then the question is who gets the better of the other person in the middle of the acquisition right
but you know hopefully they'll be able to execute it at salesforce
lock-in and value and you know the prevention of churn uh over time I think it's going to be huge
google or instagram is for I think I think it's on that level actually I think it's of that order of magnitude where the importance of those assets to those companies slack will be to salesforce
I had another smart business move I just wanted to point out which was salesforce buying slack I think it's brilliant for them I think they're going to look back on the 10 they paid of their capital for slack and I think slack will be more important than salesforce ultimately in business it's a huge the most important brand there what a great what a great move by benioff and and brett taylor and I just think what a great asset totally be better for them than youtube is for
buyback program to 20 billion dollars going forward and like meta which suddenly got fit and got religion
they're up 14 year over year small net loss but the company bought back 2.3 billion dollars worth of its stock we're going to see more of that for sure and they're going to be increasing its share buyback
but shares were up 11 on thursday after reporting their q4 earnings
well it makes sense that benioff with his you know very loving family kind of approach to running the company might actually it might take him a little while to become a big cutthroat so as everybody knows benioff and salesforce have had a lot of turnover a lot of senior executives have left voluntary or involuntary
all of the old legacy software companies x of salesforce have still not got to profitability so meaning the ones that went public in like the early teens are still sucking wind losing money
That is the Zoho 2.0, right? That is the Salesforce 2.0. It's sort of this app, app store, common data bus kind of an idea that I think somebody will build.
i mean if you actually look at salesforce they they're growing at 10 to 10 to 12 percent so why why is salesforce that has all this amazing data you know it's a database company right ultimately crm company and they're they're only you know they're they're down 40 for the year um and i think you know it really is that investors are chasing after growth fundamentally
And I think that for our customers, they're going to augment their employees. They're going to make things lower cost. They're going to increase their revenues.
And that's how I feel right now about Agent Force. This is all I am doing. Just try to take our company. You know, we have a great company, 38 billion in revenue, 75,000 employees, hundreds of thousands of customers, and one focus, Agent Force. This is because of what you're saying. This is the moment. This is the greatest opportunity in the history of enterprise software. And it must be executed with absolute acuity and excellence.
I've seen this now with a number of our customers, that they're kind of DIY in their AI. And, you know, DIY, I think it's fine if you're like Neil Young, and it's homegrown, and it's Canada, and it's, you know, Ontario. But this is not what you should be doing with your artificial intelligence.
These are not the bots you're looking for. These are like, we're really getting to like another level capability. And I think that it's pretty impressive.
I think in the last few years, what we've kind of heard and, you know, some of it has come from OpenAI, but especially from Microsoft, that we're in this co-pilot world and these co-pilots have universally failed. The level of accuracy, the spillage of information, the lack of trusted environment co-pilot has been a complete disaster.
in a head to head benchmark of Salesforce's agent force against Google's AI, we 2X them on accuracy.
We are already at that point. We already have that live and we will have that scaled for thousands of customers before the end of live for with thousands of customers live before the end of this year.
They have the ability to do things that are truly astonishing and that is also generate revenue. So they can go out and like on a day like today, like it's 100 and something degrees outside... Disney can proactively go out to their consumers and their customers and say, hey, come enjoy the heat with us all. You know, Disneyland, we're going to give you a special promotion or price or contest or whatever it is to come to Disneyland. So we want to be able to proactively go out and generate revenue
The efficiency and productivity that we've been had with AgentForce is like nothing I have ever seen with any of our customers or technology in the history of software.
By the end of this month, we'll have more than a thousand customers on our AgentForce platform.
We're running the largest banks, insurance companies, media companies, CPG companies, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah in the world.
We're working with a large medical company, not so far away from here, Kaiser. We've got 20 million patients. They have a super complex data set. They have all of the data from Epic. They have the largest Epic customer in the world. And more than 90% of all patient inquiries and scheduling requests and schedule my doctor, schedule my CT scan, my MRI, my this, my that are being resolved by Agent Force and Atlas.
We have every Disney customer test point all wired up. So the amalgamated data set that we have around Disney is awesome. So when we can take that Disney data set and then we apply Atlas and Agent Force, we are able to deliver a level of accuracy that has been incredible.
Disney has AgentForce. They have the newest version, which we call Atlas, which is our most accurate, not just model, but we have an extremely unusual technique that we'll talk about. And Atlas delivers for Disney, for their cast members, which are their employees, through extremely complex problems that it's solving for them, more than 90% accuracy and almost no hallucinations. And in some cases, 95% accuracy and almost no hallucinations.
To make AgentForce really deliver, we had to have all of our customer touchpoints wired up, which we do. We have to have an amalgamated data cloud because we need the data, especially to achieve the AI accuracy and the metadata as well. And we have to have the agents. It's these three layers that are really going to deliver this next generation capability.
AgentForce is the most exciting thing I have ever worked on in my career. It's the culmination, really, of everything that we've done at Salesforce.
We're at the precipice of the greatest moment in the history of enterprise software and of cloud computing. ... I'm really convinced that we are now really at the moment, right now, where enterprise software is going to be completely transformed with artificial intelligence. ... Einstein has done amazing. You know, it's doing trillion transactions, trillion and a half transactions a week, predictive, generative.
We came out with three models. The cloud model, which you also have been part of that. The subscription model, you've also been part of that. And the philanthropic model, and you've been part of that. And those ideas that we're doing three models, that continues to be the fuel for the company and extremely important.
Look, I think that the growth, obviously, is incredible to $38 billion. And obviously, the cash flow is incredible. It's more than Coca-Cola did, I think, last quarter. And the margin is incredible.
if you start at the bottom and work your way to the top, that Salesforce is growing by about 20% a year. And if you look at it over three years, that's roughly a double. So every three years, Salesforce was doubling. And that means that over a decade, it's growing 10x.
Look, I think that if you're only using a few use cases of these big complicated software packages, then yeah, it's probably easier than ever to deprecate them, you know, eliminate them from your stack and just have your own internal engineers build specifically what you need in a more tightly integrated way. I think that is possible.
Klarna put out this like cryptic tweet slash press release where I think maybe it was in their earnings. Nick, maybe you can find this where they're like, we've deprecated Salesforce and worked it.
if you have these things, why do you necessarily need a system of record in the way that you needed to before when you're writing all this clunky deterministic code?
you don't need to spend tens or hundreds of millions of dollars to wrap your revenue in something that says it's a system of record you don't need that actually you can just pipe that stuff directly from stripe into snowflake and you can just transform it and do what you will with it and then report it
he made a very compelling case to me about why that wouldn't happen which is well first of all i think ai models are predictive i mean at the end of the day they're predicting accurate you want to know if the federal government asks you for the tax id numbers of your employees you just want to be able to give it to them if wall street analysts asks you for your customer list and what the gap revenue is you just want to be able to provide that you don't want ai models figuring it out so you're st
i think it'll be more like salesforce or microsoft or google or amazon getting off the sidelines because they looked at and said you know what the juice ain't worth the squeeze we might as well put our efforts and our capital into buying big hardware and building new products and services but if they think hey i got a chance of pulling this through i'm sitting on all this cash what if i hit another youtube and instagram
They're going down, and this is for Salesforce. It shows it's been cut in half in the last couple of weeks. But the final slide, they're going down not because revenue is falling. Look at this. Revenue is actually stable to increasing for software companies, revenue growth. They're going down because we're discounting that future uncertainty. When something as profound as AI comes along, all of a sudden, it causes you to question whether or not there's as much certainty and durability in those f
I don't think AI is going to get rid of Salesforce, but it could eat into their growth opportunity.
He's made every previous wave work to his benefit, whether it was social, whether it was mobile, whether it was big data, all that kind of stuff. What are the odds he's going to make AI work to his benefit? I'd say pretty good. So his stock might be a bargain right now.
