I look at like what Shopify does with Shopify plus as a great example this like shop if I had this amazing everybody can be an entrepreneur now yeah and then they had people it's like oh crap some of those people started their business and now they're doing a hundred million a year are they gonna stay on Shopify and they just said yeah they will if we just make a great sir make a great thing that grows with them yeah I mean I think if you give such an amazing amount of value and you have goodwil
the problem is that when you maximize for attention you get lots of bad emergent behaviors
in the context of Google it's really simple it's like they're you know it's a line to make the money alright they make money by mind has a people's attention they want to maximize how much of that attention they grab and so they go and tell the algorithm get asthma as possible yeah and so it's not a bug it's not miss train or it's somehow was on the wrong biased thing it's due it's when it's maximizing attention it's functioning as designed that's what it's supposed to do and that's what the com
it's totally believable that we live in a world where like no one person at Google can account for what the hell the algorithm is doing that is true so complex now it's like the algorithm is kind of like our boss
YouTube used to if people subscribe to your channel you were guaranteed to get their content read all these youtubers work up at some point and they're like wait a second my users are not getting my stuff and YouTube's like yeah I'm not sure about that I guess it's the algorithm and it's like you wrote the algorithm and they're like yeah no don't know the algorithm somewhere in the building we actually haven't found it yet
if Google really was acting in good faith in this situation they would have a little button next to a newsletter that says boss always ends in box why doesn't Google dis a message to Google stop playing games this is why you're gonna go in front of Congress sundar clip this Nick sundar I know you see my tweets once in a while stop messing with newsletters on Gmail do better there's a reason why people hate big tech it's because you're screwing with the little guys and gals

it's literally Google is trying to F with newsletters by creating a promotions tab think about how sinister that is
they're buying 20 30 percent of the company so it would value the company act if it was 20 percent 5 times 15 you know it's big number 75 million dollar valuation 50 million minimum like there's a lot of that's a big valuation for a three-person company the way that I think about this is impressive
