Series E & Later — funding glossary

Series E & Later

Series E and later rounds are additional late-stage financings. A company may raise them to keep growing, weather a tough market, or delay going public. Many such rounds are a sign of ambition; a string of them can also mean an exit is taking longer than hoped.

Where in the journey
Very late-stage.
What the money is for
Extend runway and scale while private, ahead of IPO or sale.
Common investors
Crossover investors, sovereign/pension funds, private equity.
Watch out for
Repeated late rounds can dilute heavily and pressure the eventual exit price.
