I think that the the challenge I think for the AV stuff is that you know is it always gonna be reliable enough a connection one of the issues with 5g is that the range is gonna be shorter so they actually have to have more micro cells to get proper 5g coverage
I think that they could compete but it ends up looking more like a game console business and and I think that is where Apple didn't make a game console 15 years ago either
I think that they found that at the end of the day it was not going to be something that was gonna be a product that people were gonna use all day throughout the day right and I think that that's what Apple aspires to which is products that you use a lot that have a really high quality of user experience and high frequency
they were certainly exploring it and looking at the space and a couple of at least a couple of years ago made a decision not to participate not to make a play here
my theory on it is is I actually think Elon thinks he can hit some of these things and then he adds so much awesomeness to the car unnecessary in some people's minds but still awesome nonetheless and he's such a perfectionist that you know the date slips sometimes but who cares
the problem the the I would say almost consider most universally he's been late by six months or a year on some of these products but they've always exceeded expectations
it is not fair though that yes it the thing has been over promised
there's no reason for them to fall short the set expectations that they can't meet has done this in their history a couple of times
I think the Tesla's proven it's a real business they'd know how to ship build the stuff a lot of cars and they notice ship stuff yeah
the model 3 to me is the big winner
it's a great halo product... it actually creates what we call a halo effect on the brand to the showroom it gets people excited about Tesla
if they can partner with big companies like a Walmart and that have defined routes... that actually gives them a way to say... an average independent trucker is not necessary gonna buy one of these because he's gonna have you know a reasonable fear that there's not gonna be the charging infrastructure in place right but if you go to the partner in the first place and say great let us know what your 1200 mile route is and we'll make sure that we have superchargers along the way
