it feels like driving the future ... Tesla does not Market itself as driving the future it just is
I'm a huge fan of Tesla.
headspace I I want to the people that that practice meditation and I said what would you suggest to get started and every one of them recommended a different book but every single one of them recommended headspace got it got the app and sure enough it just works that's delivering on a singular value proposition world class way
canonical example Google right so in 1998 before Google came on the scene you all remember what search engine you were using alav Vista ... and if you want an example of singular Focus I mean when they launched the product it was the logo and a searchbox and all they focused on day in and day out was making that great yeah like great and sure enough you know became Google and that search engine changed the way the world literally accessed es and utilizes information and it became one of the most
we have had an opportunity we've been very fortunate to hire some world-class editors people like Dan Roth from Fortune right and he's made all the difference in the world
it is not where we're focused right now could we hire and become could we hire writers and become far more of a principle in terms of generating original content yes okay that's not the focus that's not the strategy the strategy right now is to create the best possible platform
we want to be a platform you know we want to enable Publishers like that to get their content in front of our membership first and foremost we want to be driving traffic back to those Publishers
yeah so last year was 2.2 billion in Topline Revenue yeah and it's profitable
if we're helping those people get hired we did our jobs right massive value even though it may only be measured in X number of minutes
we're ultimately about making people more productive and successful that's our mission
I think historically there's been too much Focus certainly for us on measures like that asset utilization and I'd like there to be more focus on the value propositions and building something that makes a difference
I don't think we've done a good enough job and we're going to get this right there's no doubt in my mind we're going to get this right and once we do I think it's going to unlock a lot of value
I think the flagship is a good product and I think the flagship product has been getting continually better I think the flagship product has room for improvement and in particular I think all of us at the company that work on that are really excited about what's possible with
there were a number of situations where folks were interested in leveraging the API to essentially compete with us and to commercially exploit the service and we want to make sure that there's a quid pro quo
we still have a robust API program and we have uh completely open apis when it comes to sharing content uh some leveraging of the the profile Min profile or rollovers but with regard to commercial apis uh which are very closely aligned with the Talent Solutions business the Marketing Solutions business the sales Solutions business uh there's a process there
there's certainly a lot of room for improvement across the platform
LinkedIn has fortunately been able to create a lot of value for our members and customers over the last several years
every team at the company is now capable of launching essentially whenever they want
a few years ago uh we made a very concerted effort to invest in the infrastructure in the back end and uh at one point enough technical debt had accured that had we continued to go down that path I think it would become prohibitive to continue to do the things we want to do and certainly to scale
it's a full-fledged ecosystem it's gone Way Beyond uh the the identity in the profile
it really is a platform that enables our members to connect to opportunity a whole host of ways
