we've got a lot of machines at Google we we want we want a lot of machines to be out there
it's really nice to think that there's an there's a platform I can Target and no one who would ever really compete with me can yank that platform away or or perturb it in some way that's going to damage my business
the good guys like Google uh and you know Firefox and uh no I mean the other people have the the business model doesn't rely on it being gated off like that
we've got things like even bits the fiddly bits we even got things like the Google um the closure Library ... which is a very complete comprehensive JavaScript library for people want to do rich applications
we've got Google web toolkit for Java developers who want to do these kind of Rich client things
we've got things like uh we've got Google app engine which is a tremendous tool
my controversial answer here is AdSense AdSense is the technology we're using to make it better because what we're trying to do is encourage people to innovate right out in the cloud

it's going to be quite a while before we're going to have a way to do something for the user that a user should feel comfortable about saying yes this web app is welcome to scan every directory on my computer you know um and that's like that's a big ask it's not a technology problem it's a it's a psychology problem and security problem
