I think a lot of people if they just started with Groupon as their first idea wouldn't have been successful
the very first Groupon that they did was two for one pizza in the pizza restaurant in the lobby of their building... they sold 20 Groupons... so many entrepreneurs would look at that and be like total failure... but precisely because they had spent a year trying to get anybody to take any action at all
if you look at Facebook and Groupon and saying all these companies there's this like pretty embarrassing failure right before the huge success
group on in one city yel in one city Facebook on one campus uh it seems like that is the expert best practice it is and there's a reason for it it's not random it's that you have to find early adopters before you can go to mainstream customers
I don't actually think anybody does they're very secretive about what their process is
when they gave their money back to investors their vanity metrics the total number of customers and the total of messages sent were all pathetically small ... but the level of Engagement of those early customers was off the charts so there was an indication that something really interesting was going on there
I said Biz this is the stupidest idea ever come up with ... who wants to read everybody I only want to read the people who are capable of writing the paragraph and I didn't invest
Twitter offered investors a chance to get their money back many of whom are really regretting that they took them up on that offer
