you have the waymo cars obviously have much smaller footprint
it's not a predefined route that there's a collection like there's an area that they operate within it's not everywhere but it's it's a chunk of phoenix is this yours or this is waymo's this is this wave this is the team yeah yeah so they're doing these routes
today uh you can go to phoenix uh and the team i used to lead has some vehicles on the road you can call one and get in and it'll drive you and there'll be no one in the front seat uh and that's kind of incredible
it wasn't that the truck was white that was the problem it wasn't that there was a bright sky it was that it didn't look like the back of a truck because it was the side of a truck the system wasn't able to to understand that and didn't have the robust sensing to to deal with it appropriately so that's why we think multi-sensors uh multiple sensors are really important
I don't think there's going to be as many as like I don't see this becoming a commodity is the short answer maybe three or four people make it
I expect there'll be at most a handful of companies that deliver on this technology because it's it's really hard and you need to have the experience you need to have the quality you need to have the partnerships and backing to make it successful
that is essentially what happened tragically with the uber and the bicyclist crossing the street in the middle of the night not at an intersection and the safety driver was on their phone tragically you have a double fail there
every uber out there with an app on the phone it's collecting some amount of data and could collect more
uber's business is profoundly complicated
