HN, I’m Hunter the founder of Regatta Storage (https://regattastorage.com). Regatta Storage is a new cloud file system that provides unlimited pay-as-you-go capacity, local-like performance, and automatic synchronization to S3-compatible storage. For example, you can use Regatta to instantly access massive data sets in S3 with Spark, Pytorch, or pandas without paying for large, local disks or waiting for the data to download.
Check out an overview of how the service works here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xh1q5p7E4JY, and you can try it for free at https://regattastorage.com after signing up for an account. We wanted to let you try it without an account, but we figured that “Hacker News shares a file system and S3 bucket” wouldn’t be the best experience for the community.
I built Regatta after spending nearly a decade building and operating at-scale cloud storage at places like Amazon’s Elastic File System (EFS) and Netflix. During my 8 years at EFS, I learned a lot about how teams thought about their storage usage. Users frequently told me that they loved how simple and scalable EFS was, and -- like S3 -- they didn’t have to guess how much capacity they needed up front.
When I got to Netflix, I was surprised that there wasn’t more usage of EFS. If you looked around, it seemed like a natural fit. Every application needed a POSIX file system. Lots of applications had unclear or spikey storage needs. Often, developers wanted their storage to last beyond the lifetime of an individual instance or container. In fact, if you looked across all Netflix applications, some ridiculous amount of money was being spent on empty storage space because each of these local drives had to be overprovisioned for potential usage.
However, in many cases, EFS wasn’t the perfect choice for these workloads. Moving workloads from local disks to NFS often encountered performance issues. Further, applications which treated their local disks as ephemeral would have to manually “clean up” left over data in a persistent storage system.
At this point, I realized that there was a missing solution in the cloud storage market which wasn’t being filled by either block or file storage, and I decided to build Regatta.
Regatta is a pay-as-you-go cloud file system that automatically expands with your application. Because it automatically synchronizes with S3 using native file formats, you can connect it to existing data sets and use recently written file data directly from S3. When data isn’t actively being used, it’s removed from the Regatta cache, so you only pay for the backing S3 storage. Finally, we’re developing a custom file protocol which allows us to achieve local-like performance for small-file workloads and Lustre-like scale-out performance for distributed data jobs.
Under the hood, customers mount a Regatta file system by connecting to our fleet of caching instances over NFSv3 (soon, our custom protocol). Our instances then connect to the customer’s S3 bucket on the backend, and provide sub-millisecond cached-read and write performance. This durable cache allows us to provide a strongly consistent, efficient view of the file system to all connected file clients. We can perform challenging operations (like directory renaming) quickly and durably, while they asynchronously propagate to the S3 bucket.
We’re excited to see users share our vision for Regatta. We have teams who are using us to build totally serverless Jupyter notebook servers for their AI researchers who prefer to upload and share data using the S3 web UI. We have teams who are using us as a distributed caching layer on top of S3 for low-latency access to common files. We have teams who are replacing their thin-provisioned Ceph boot volumes with Regatta for significant savings. We can’t wait to see what other things people will build and we hope you’ll give us a try at regattastorage.com.
We’d love to get any early feedback from the community, ideas for future direction, or experiences in this space. I developed the custom Triton kernel to handle the neuromorphic inspired Spike Attention, iterating the design via Nsight Compute until the hardware utilization reached its absolute capacity.
S Tier Performance: The kernel achieves 4–6 second image generation times on any sampler or scheduler, regardless of whether you are running 20 or 50 steps. Once Spikey kicks in, it goes ham and COOKS with 0 image quality loss.
Bare metal C++/CUDA Engine: I stripped out the standard execution path and built a custom SSBEngine that interfaces directly with torch.ops. Zero ctypes latency, zero wasted cycles.
Fused Computations: The kernel executes gate, residual, and bias computations in a single high velocity lovelace pass. This completely eliminates the intermediate float32 memory bottlenecks that choke standard pipelines.
Custom Neuromorphic Spike Attention: This aint an off the shelf implementation. I wrote a JIT-compiled Triton kernel from the ground up that uses block-sparse logic to drop attention FLOPs by ~90% after a defined step threshold, without degrading image fidelity. Spikey straight cooks.
Cache Stepping & Native FP8: I integrated explicit cache stepping logic to manage state. The first generation takes a moment to saturate the system, but every run after that operates at peak velocity. I also built in native float8_e4m3fn support with automated per-tensor scaling and module-level weight caching to ensure zero redundant extractions. Spikey and cache stepping compliment each other beautifully.
Nsight Compute Verified: I profiled and iterated this through Nsight Compute until there was literally no more theoretical headroom. The kernel utilizes the lovelace architecture at full physical capacity. I have untested 10 series through 30 series iterations on my github, I have a 1080TI in my other rig but I havent tested the 10 series iteration on it, or the 20 or 30 series as I dont have those cards. I cooked only on the lovelace architecture, so feel free to give them a whirl if you rock those cards or want to fix it if broke.
ComfyUI Integration: The kernel is fully integrated into the ComfyUI Manager, allowing for immediate deployment via custom nodes. I don't think anyone has seen it yet though it's been up for a while. Hopefully some people here can appreciate my work and utilize it themselves. Its night and day difference and allows image generation to cook on whole new level. It reads the accessibility tree, sends the UI state to an LLM, executes actions via ADB, and loops until the task is done.
The core loop: dump accessibility tree via uiautomator → parse and filter to ~40 relevant elements → LLM returns {think, plan, action} → execute via ADB → repeat.
Some technical decisions worth noting:
- Primary input is the accessibility tree, not vision. Vision (screenshots + multimodal model) is only a fallback for when the tree is empty (WebViews, Flutter).
- Stuck detection: if the screen state doesn't change for 3 steps, recovery kicks in with back navigation, home, or app re-launch.
- Two execution modes: AI-powered workflows (JSON, LLM decides navigation) and deterministic flows (YAML, fixed sequences, no LLM calls).
- ADB over WiFi + Tailscale for remote control. The phone becomes an always-on agent you can trigger from anywhere.
- Supports Groq (free tier), OpenAI, OpenRouter, Bedrock. Ollama support just landed for fully local inference.
- One-line install: curl -fsSL https://droidclaw.ai/install.sh | sh
Built with Bun + TypeScript. 35 example workflows included covering messaging, social, productivity, research, and lifestyle tasks.

that's why i created uiino. it makes it easy to create user flows with just plain text, anywhere you can type. if you get stuck, our ai can even help you build a story map from your app idea.
uiino keeps things clear and simple. we use tags to make it easy for everyone to understand. need feedback? you can add comments directly to the map. and if you need to move things around, it's super easy!
we use uiino ourselves to build better products. to try ditching the sticky notes and see how clear user stories can help.
uiino is free to use forever, but we're just getting started. we're working on integrations with figma to sync your app design flows, copywriting, translation, and collaborations. we're also working on more cool features.

I built Metron, a simple tool written in Rust that monitors your server metrics and sends updates to a Discord channel using webhooks. It tracks CPU usage, memory usage, disk usage, network traffic, and more. The metrics are formatted as embed messages for easy readability.
I created this tool because I wanted a lightweight and efficient way to keep an eye on my server's performance without constantly logging in. Rust's performance and safety features made it an ideal choice for this project.
Features:
- Tracks key server metrics
- Sends updates to Discord every 30 minutes
- Easy to set up and use
- Customizable to fit your needs
You can check out the GitHub repo https://github.com/thisuxhq/metron for more details and setup instructions.
I'd love to hear your feedback and any suggestions for improvements!
["story","author_spikey_sanju","story_41079812","show_hn
Hey HN!
