About the Role

We're hiring Software Engineers for our Product team to build the surfaces our customers depend on — dashboards, admin tooling, billing and spend management, analytics, onboarding, and many other user-facing features that turn OpenRouter into a platform. You'll be working closely with PMs and our designer to ship. We have a small team focused on this surface today, so you'll have room to own pieces of the product end to end.

About OpenRouter

OpenRouter is the unified interface for large language models. We route billions of tokens every month, helping developers build AI applications without worrying about provider lock-in, downtime, or complex integrations. We're a small, focused team backed by top-tier investors.

About the Role

We're looking for a Scaled Support Specialist who lives at the intersection of deep technical troubleshooting and exceptional human communication. You'll be the front line for developers integrating with OpenRouter's API — diagnosing complex issues across dozens of model providers, untangling new edge cases, and making sure every developer who reaches out feels like they have a partner, not a ticket number.

This is not a scripted helpdesk role. Our users are highly capable engineers building the next generation of AI applications, which means the problems they bring to us are complex, nuanced, and frequently novel. You'll encounter issues daily where there is no runbook. You'll need to figure it out, often with incomplete information, and usually before anyone else on the team has seen it either.

If you're the kind of person who reads API changelogs for fun, has strong opinions about error message quality, and gets genuine satisfaction from turning a frustrated developer into a happy one — keep reading.

Troubleshooting & Problem Solving (Core Focus)

Developer Communication & Advocacy

Self-Directed Research & Learning

Bridge to Product & Engineering

About OpenRouter

OpenRouter is the unified interface for LLMs. We route billions of tokens every month, helping developers and enterprises access, manage, and optimize their AI use across 200+ models and providers — without worrying about lock-in, capacity constraints, downtime, or complex integrations.

Our provider ecosystem — the model labs, inference services, and hardware platforms behind the marketplace — is what makes that possible. New providers reach out constantly, and every conversation is a chance to add supply, diversity, and reliability to the platform.

About the Role

We’re hiring a Partner Development Manager to own the long tail of new and inbound provider conversations and turn them into live integrations. Right now, inbound interest (Twitter/LinkedIn pings, “what’s interesting, what are you providing?” intros) outpaces our capacity to action it. Your job is to be the person who “just goes and does things” — qualifying, scoping, and driving hands-on onboarding so no promising provider slips through the cracks.

This is a tactical, high-velocity, low-ego execution role and the fastest way to learn partnerships from the inside. You’ll talk to providers all day, get technical enough to unblock their integrations, and work across Product, Engineering, and Support to get them shipped.

Proactively find and reach out to emerging model developers, inference platforms, and GPU/accelerator providers to expand OpenRouter’s supply diversity.\n\n - Drive hands-on onboarding. Take qualified providers from first call to live integration — scoping, coordinating technical setup, checking metadata and pricing accuracy, and unblocking issues as they come up.\n\n - Be technical enough to move fast. About OpenRouter

OpenRouter is the unified interface for LLMs. We route billions of tokens every month, helping developers and enterprises access, manage, and optimize their AI use across 400+ models and providers — without worrying about lock-in, capacity constraints, downtime, or complex integrations.

Our provider ecosystem is the foundation of that marketplace. As the number of model labs and inference providers we work with grows, the relationships behind them have to scale like a product — with consistent tiers, lifecycles, and standards — not as a set of one-off deals.

About the Role

We’re hiring a Program Manager to turn our Provider Program into a product. Today, provider relationships are managed one at a time; your job is to give them a repeatable structure so the ecosystem scales without adding headcount for every new partner.

You’ll own the standard provider lifecycle end to end — sourcing, onboarding, activation, QBR, and renewal — along with provider tiering (our “buckets”), SLAs, and the compliance cadence that keeps the program trustworthy. You’ll be the one person with context across every partnership, able to run program-wide operations (re-paper all providers, roll out a new compliance attestation, launch a new tier) without pulling individual partnership owners off their accounts.

You’ll also run our flagship programs, starting with MPEAP (Model Provider Early Access Program) and our verified/certified provider tracks. This is a high-ownership role that sits at the intersection of Product, Engineering, Legal, Finance, and Security.

Define and operate the standard path from sourcing → onboarding → activation → QBR → renewal, with clear stage gates, owners, and SLAs.\n\n - Design provider tiering. Build and maintain the tiering framework (the “buckets”) that determines how providers are classified, what they get, and what’s expected of them.\n\n - Build programmatic structure that scales. Turn one-off relationships into repeatable systems — templates, playbooks, self-serve onboarding, and automated provider comms — so the program grows without linear headcount.\n\n - Run cross-program operations. About OpenRouter

OpenRouter is the leading AI routing and infrastructure layer that developers and enterprises use to access, manage, and optimize the best large language models across providers without lock-in, capacity constraints, or unnecessary cost. We power the most advanced AI teams in the world by giving them the flexibility to move fast, scale confidently, and stay future-proof as models evolve.

As enterprise adoption of AI accelerates, OpenRouter sits at the center of how organizations operationalize LLMs across research, product, and production workloads.

About the Role

As a Research Scientist, you will conduct deep, original research that advances how the world understands, evaluates, and routes large language models. You'll work with one of the richest datasets in AI: billions of LLM generations spanning every major model, provider, and use case.

You will own and pursue a research agenda: designing experiments, developing evaluation frameworks, and producing work that shapes how models are compared, selected, and deployed. Your findings will inform OpenRouter's routing intelligence, public rankings, and the broader AI discourse.

Success in this role is measured by the quality and impact of your research, not by shipping production code or building dashboards. You'll collaborate with product and engineering teams, but your primary focus is depth and rigor.

As enterprise adoption of AI accelerates, OpenRouter sits at the center of how organizations deploy leading open and proprietary models across research, development, and production workloads.

About the Role

We're hiring our first dedicated Enterprise Product Manager to give the world’s largest organizations access to OpenRouter’s market-leading model catalog while keeping them in control of their policies and costs. Too often, we see employees at enterprises stuck using a single model family and unable to experiment with bleeding edge AI capabilities. To clear the path for these customers, you’ll own a broad product surface: identity and access, governance, security, spend controls, admin tooling, and the growth engine that turns organic adoption into a company-wide deployment.

This is a high-ownership role at the intersection of product and go-to-market. You'll work closely with Fortune 100 design partners, translating procurement, security, observability, and compliance requirements into a roadmap that unlocks the next tier of enterprise adoption. You'll partner closely with our Enterprise Account Executives, Forward Deployed Engineers, and Customer Success team to convert deal signal into shipped product. We’ll also give you industry-leading tools: our business processes are built from the ground up to be AI-native and we create room for experimentation across the entire model ecosystem to accelerate our own work.

This role is for you if you have moved a product up-market, navigated security reviews and procurement processes, and felt the difference between a feature that demos well and one that closes an enterprise-wide contract. We're looking for someone with high product taste who has built analytics-heavy, technical products and operated inside a true enterprise, sales-led motion.

About OpenRouter

OpenRouter is the open AI routing and infrastructure layer that enterprises use to access, manage, and optimize the best large language models across providers—without lock-in, capacity constraints, or unnecessary cost. We power some of the most advanced AI teams in the world by giving them the flexibility to move fast, scale confidently, and stay future-proof as models evolve.

As enterprise adoption of AI accelerates, OpenRouter sits at the center of how organizations operationalize LLMs across research, product, and production workloads.

About the Role

OpenRouter grows because developers find it, try it, and route more of their work through it. More than 10 million users and 250k+ apps process 200T+ tokens on the platform every month, nearly all of it starting in self-serve. You’ll own turning that reach into revenue: more of the right developers discovering OpenRouter, signing up, buying their first credits, and growing their usage.

You’ll run the self-serve growth engine: paid media and sponsorships, AEO/SEO, conversion optimization on key pages and flows, and the measurement and forecasting that keeps it all optimized. That’s roughly 75% of the role. The other 25% is partnering with our enterprise team as an execution and thought partner on demand gen.

This is a Director-level, player/coach role with a paid budget of $5M+ for 2027. In year one you’re hands-on: buying media, shipping tests, building the measurement stack, managing agencies. As the engine proves out, you build the team around it.

More than 10 million users and 250k+ apps process 200T+ tokens on the platform every month, nearly all of it starting in self-serve. About OpenRouter

OpenRouter is the AI routing and infrastructure layer that AI builders, AI-native startups, and enterprises use to access, manage, and optimize their AI usage through a unified API, billing interface, and analytics platform. We route billions of tokens every month and sit at the center of how organizations operationalize LLMs across research, product, and production workloads.

We are a small team that punches above its weight. Every person here has direct impact on the product and our users.

About the Role

Most third-party risk roles hand you a mature program and ask you to keep the queue moving. This is the opposite.

You'll be the first security risk analyst at OpenRouter, building the vendor risk function from a blank page. The vendors you assess aren't the usual SaaS sprawl — they're the model providers and subprocessors sitting directly in our customers' data path. And you'll do it in a regulatory environment still being written: there's no playbook for how the EU AI Act applies to an AI routing layer and its supply chain. You'll help write ours.

If you've ever finished a vendor review and thought this should take a third as long and catch twice as much — and wanted to be the one to fix it — keep reading.

Same for pen tests, DPAs, and subprocessor lists.\n\n - Turn findings into decisions — residual risk and compensating controls, not a spreadsheet of yellow cells.\n\n - Design and stand up the TPRM program: intake, tiering, SLAs, escalation, exceptions, and risk acceptance.\n\n - Pitch and implement tooling that compresses time-to-close, integrated with our GRC stack (Drata) and ticketing.\n\n - Build continuous monitoring for critical vendors and run annual reviews on a real cadence.\n\n - Map vendor risk to our SOC 2, ISO 27001, HIPAA, GDPR, and EU AI Act obligations, including flow-down to subprocessors.\n\n\n\n\nWHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR\n\n - 4+ years in third-party/vendor security risk or security assessment — real assessment reps, not just program administration.\n\n - Working fluency across SOC 2, ISO 27001, HIPAA, and GDPR, plus enough command of the EU AI Act to reason about it rather than recite it.\n\n - Technical literacy — cloud architecture, access models, encryption, data flows — enough to know when a vendor's answer doesn't hold up.\n\n - Comfort with DPAs, BAAs, and security exhibits, and judgment about which clauses actually matter.\n\n - A bias toward shipping.

The Role

As a Data Scientist, you will build the intelligence layer that powers how millions of developers and AI agents interact with the world's largest model marketplace. OpenRouter processes billions of LLM generations spanning every major model, provider, and use case. Your job is to turn that data into a better product and a better experience for our customers.

You will work directly with our customer-facing and product teams to understand how requests are routed, where customers hit friction, which behaviors drive growth or churn, and what insights we should surface back to users so they can understand and optimize their own AI usage.

This is not a reporting role. You will own questions end to end: framing the problem, digging into the data, and shipping the answer. That might be a change to our routing heuristics, a new analytics product for customers, or a recommendation that shapes the roadmap. Whatever form it takes, the insights you generate feed directly back into the product, and you will see your work in the experience of every customer we serve.

Whatever form it takes, the insights you generate feed directly back into the product, and you will see your work in the experience of every customer we serve.\n\n\n\n\nWHAT YOU'LL DO\n\n - Build and improve the rules, heuristics, and models that drive our core model routing and provider routing systems.\n\n - Build analytics products and conduct deep-dive analyses that empower users to understand usage, diagnose issues, and optimize workflows while informing our product strategy.\n\n - Design and ship user-facing data features, from task-type classification taxonomies to public rankings pages that break down model performance by use case.\n\n - Define and track product metrics such as feature adoption, user engagement, and platform health, directly tying these insights to roadmap and architectural decisions.\n\n - Contribute meaningfully to the data warehouse (dbt, ClickHouse) to ensure the analytical foundation scales with the business.\n\n\n\n\nWHAT YOU BRING\n\nExperience & Technical Skills\n\n - Experience building and shipping production-level data products such as models, algorithms, classifiers, scoring systems, or automated processes.\n\n - Proven ability to partner with engineering and product teams to convert insights and analytics into customer facing features.\n\n - Strong SQL skills. You can write complex, performant queries against large-scale analytical databases (ClickHouse, BigQuery, or similar).\n\n - Deep fluency with AI and agents. You use LLMs and AI tools in your daily work, understand how they behave, and have informed opinions on model evaluation, prompt engineering, and the agentic ecosystem.\n\n - Excellent statistical and mathematical foundations. You think in distributions, causal inference, and experimental design, not just averages and dashboards.\n\n - Proficiency in Python (or similar scripting language). You can prototype models, run simulations, and build data pipelines.\n\n - 4+ years of relevant experience in a data science, applied ML, or quantitative product role at a high-growth, high-velocity company.\n\n\n\nMindset & Approach\n\n - Product-oriented. You build for the developer, not just for intellectual interest. You have strong product sense and can translate ambiguous, complex systems into clear, shippable solutions.\n\n - Highly motivated and independent. You thrive in fast-moving, low-structure environments. You don't wait for tickets; you identify the highest-leverage problem and go solve it.\n\n - AI-first in your own workflow. You use coding agents, MCP servers, and modern AI tools heavily and have strong opinions about what works.\n\n - Incredible problem solver. You can navigate ambiguity, break down complex systems, and find creative approaches where others see dead ends.\n\n - Strong written communication. You can distill complex analysis into clear recommendations for technical and non-technical audiences alike.\n\nBonus Points\n\n - Experience with LLM evaluation and benchmarking such as online/offline evals, human-in-the-loop assessment, safety/quality guardrails.\n\n - Experience with developer platforms, APIs/SDKs, or usage-based products.\n\n - NLP or machine learning engineering experience building classifiers, embeddings, or ranking models.\n\n - TypeScript experience. Parts of our stack (routing engine, API layer, front-end) are TypeScript. Being able to contribute directly to the product codebase is a meaningful plus."},{"id":"44ef374e-b234-4d77-b002-8b38b4fda18f","title":"Community Lead, Developer Relations","department":"Marketing","team":"Marketing","employmentType":"FullTime","location":"San Francisco Bay Area, California","secondaryLocations":[],"publishedAt":"2026-09-01T03:41:14.049+00:00","isListed":true,"isRemote":true,"workplaceType":"Hybrid","address":{"postalAddress":{"addressCountry":"United States"}},"jobUrl":"https://jobs.ashbyhq.com/openrouter/44ef374e-b234-4d77-b002-8b38b4fda18f","applyUrl":"https://jobs.ashbyhq.com/openrouter/44ef374e-b234-4d77-b002-8b38b4fda18f/application","descriptionHtml":"

THIS ROLE IS REQUIRED TO BE BASED IN THE SAN FRANCISCO BAY AREA

About OpenRouter

OpenRouter is the open AI routing and infrastructure layer that enterprises use to access, manage, and optimize the best large language models across providers, without lock-in, capacity constraints, or unnecessary cost.

The Role

We're looking for a Community Lead to become the heartbeat of OpenRouter's developer community. You will be the person our community knows by name and recognizes in person, the one who is always around, always listening, and always making the community a better place to be.

OpenRouter's Discord is already one of the largest AI communities anywhere. Over 50,000 members, hundreds of threads, and thousands of chats every week. It is THE place where people talk about models, harnesses, new techniques, and projects. Not just OpenRouter, but AI in general.

You are a community person first and a developer at heart. You've built with LLMs, you understand what AI builders care about, and you're fluent in the culture of the spaces where they gather. You will own this Discord and grow our presence across Twitter/X, Reddit, and other community channels, turning an already thriving community into the best place on the internet to be an AI builder.

This is a hands-on, founding community role. In the first 3 months, you will be the primary steward of the community, with the opportunity to shape how the function scales over time. You'll work closely with our DevRel and marketing teams as a complementary, community-focused counterpart.

Everything you do in this role should be 1:n. Instead of hosting one meetup, you create the event kit that lets a community member in any city run their own. Instead of answering the same question ten times, you build the automation that surfaces it once. Instead of personally moderating every channel, you recruit and equip a mod team that scales without you.

The focus is digital first, roughly an 80/20 split between online community work and in-person community events to start.

This role is not about selling or broadcasting. It is about presence, trust, and making OpenRouter's community a place developers genuinely want to be.
